MELT MOVEMENT WORK SHOP

This one-day intensive invites you into a rich, multifaceted movement experience, weaving together
movement research led by two artists with distinct backgrounds, expertise, and artistic voices.

Throughout the immersive day, participants will dive into a rich movement experience that weaves
together movement research sessions led by Dhanushka Seneviratne (Dance practitioner and international
research scholar, UK) and Dhananjaya Jayawardhana(Dance practitioner and educator, SL), each bringing
their own artistic voice, perspective, and expertise.

focus on sensation, pleasure, and a wide range of movement qualities, expanding physical possibilities
and deepening bodily awareness. Each facilitator offers a unique entry point into the movement language,
inviting you to encounter both the practice and your own dancing body in new ways.
The movement research sessions draw inspiration from Fascial Flow and choreographic exploration.
Through improvisation, guided tasks, and reflective practices, these sessions encourage embodied
discovery, creativity, and curiosity.

Throughout the workshop, there will be space for dialogue, reflection, and Q&A, supporting an
integrated, conscious, and shared learning process.
Open to participants aged 16 and up, this workshop welcomes everyone with or without prior movement
experience. Whether you are a dancer, performer, or simply curious about movement, you are warmly
invited.

Bring your openness, curiosity, and love of moving, and join us for a weekend of shared research,
connection, and joy.
Spaces are limited to only 25 spaces; registration in advance is required

The International Screen Dance Festival UK and SL 2026

The International Screen Dance Festival UK and SL 2026 invites filmmakers, choreographers, and movement artists to celebrate the vibrant intersection of dance and the moving image. This pioneering festival showcases innovative short dance films that push boundaries, embracing experimental techniques, diverse technologies (both new and old), and bold choreographic visions. With screenings in both London and Sri Lanka, the festival provides a unique platform for independent creators to showcase their work to international audiences. Selected films will be archived at the DS Dance Research Library, making them accessible to students, researchers, and the public online. As a non profit initiative run by passionate arts professionals, the festival is committed to nurturing creativity and dialogue in screen dance. Call for entries is now open. Submit your proposal and join this global celebration of movement on screen.

Call for Entries: International Screen Dance Festival UK and SL 2026 

We are thrilled to announce that submissions are now open for the International Screen Dance Festival UK and SL 2026, a groundbreaking celebration of independent short dance films. This festival is a dynamic fusion of movement, choreography, and cinematic innovation, welcoming experimental works that explore the expressive potential of dance on screen.

We invite filmmakers, choreographers, and artists to submit proposals for short films that reflect their unique vision and chosen theme. Whether you’re working with cutting-edge digital tools or traditional techniques, we welcome diverse approaches and bold creativity.

Screenings will be held in both London and Sri Lanka, with dates and times to be confirmed, offering a truly international platform for your work. Selected films will also be archived at the DS Dance Research Library, where they will be accessible online to students, researchers, and the public.

Submission Process:

Stage 1 – Submit a proposal based on your chosen theme.

Stage 2 – Selected proposals will be invited to participate in a workshop for guidance and development.

Stage 3 – Final films will be nominated for screening at the festival.

Key Rules & Terms:

Only one film per artist/company may be submitted.

Films must be completed after January 1, 2020.

All submitted films must have a maximum duration of 10 minutes.

We do not accept filmed stage performances created for the theatre.

Student filmmakers must have been enrolled in an accredited institution during production.

All content must be original, with rights or permissions secured.

Selected stills may be used for promotional purposes (with proper credit).

We are unable to provide feedback on unselected proposals.

Deadline for submissions: [31st March 2026 at 23,59 CET.]
